The City-Check Basic by National Testing Laboratories works well as an informational water testing kit designed for people whose drinking water comes from municipal water sources (i.e. city water).
This reasonably priced water testing package includes tests for the basic and most commonly found drinking water contaminants in city water: 5 metals and minerals including copper and lead; 7 inorganic chemicals including fluoride and nitrates; 4 physical characteristics including pH and hardness; and 16 disinfectants and disinfection by-products (DBP's) including chlorine (free & total), trihalomethanes (THM's) and haloacetic acids.
For a complete list of water quality parameters tested by the City Check Basic Water Test Kit, along with low detection levles for each parameter, please refer to the information below:
The City-Check Basic Water Test Kit comes with all the materials you will need to quickly and easily collect the required water sample, instructions that explain how best to collect your water sample, and instructions telling you where to send your collected sample once you have packaged it securely in the supplied shipping carton.
What does the purchase price include?
The cost of the kit includes all fees associated with the actual testing of the sample and no additional laboratory charges will apply BUT the purchase price does NOT include the cost of shipping your sample to National Testing Laboratories for testing.
How much does it cost to ship a sample to the lab?
In the interest of obtaining the most accurate water test results, we suggest sending your water sample to the lab using the overnight shipping services of your preferred shipping company (i.e. Fed Ex, UPS, USPS, etc.).
When last we checked, shipping a sample to National Testing Laboratories from anywhere in the Continental Unites States costs somewhere in the range of $40 to $60 depending upon your location.
NOTE: If having your water sample tested for bacteria you must get the sample into the lab within 24 hours of collection or the test results may not have any meaning.
How long until I receive my test results?
Generally speaking, National Testing Laboratories will email a copy of the test results to you within 10 to 14 business days of receiving your water sample.
